{March 18, 2009}   Dress Up of Male and Female actor…

Riyaz

PurnimaBangladesh is a Muslim country, so we have some conservation. Our traditional dresses are shari and Pazaima-kameez for women. But now some movies represent women very nakedly which is very embarrassing for our culture. But they always represent men with very well dressed. My question is when men act in films with covering whole body, why should female act nakedly? Therefore, I would like to suggest that instead of destruct our tradition they should represent our traditional dress.

Maya,
Great posts! You asks such great questions. Can you also think of some solutions? Who is responsible for these types of portrayal? Isn’t the general public responsible too because they are the ones purchasing and supporting the artists?

I also really liked your post about rape. Do you think that there should be a policy for news media that they should not post images of rape victims because they will receive harassment? In America, there is are policies, depending on the news outlet, where they refuse to publish information about rape victims. What do you think about that?

Keep up the good work!

Maya,
Yes your correct. It’s not only happening in Bangladesh but all over the world. I do not know why the people are changing day by day. It’s like insulting our culture right? good idea. Keep going. Also try to include your thoughts more.

Cheers,
Safra

Congratulations Maya for presenting the point about traditional dress. While I was in Bangladesh recently I found the beauty and modesty of women’s clothing very pleasant. It is refreshing to see women in feminine styles. Most women in North America enjoy the freedom of dressing as they please. It seems though that many also become slaves to fashions that give a sexy message and they actually lose any semblance of being the beautiful beings that they are meant to be.
This is a very important topic because it has to do with how we view ourselves as women, wives and mothers .Keep talking about it with your friends.
