In the post “Dress up of Male and Female Actor” I talked about how the dress up of a female actor ruins our tradition. After that blog my teacher asked me some questions. These questions are “Who is responsible for these types of portrayal? Isn’t the general public responsible too because they are the ones purchasing and supporting the artists?” Yes, some general public also responsible for it. However, if we reflect the past we can see that past’s movie were more demandable than now. Many old movies we can enjoy with whole family, but at present it is vary shameful to watch movie with our parents for the nakedly representation of female actor. Some lower minded people appreciate those movies, not all general people. There are some movies that all people appreciate. Those movies are famous for story, acting and other things not for nakedly representation of female actor. “Monpura” is one of those movies. I appreciate the director to make these kinds of movie.
Rape is common news of Bangladeshi newspapers. We often see rape in the front page as highlighted news. Sometimes newspapers show picture of a raped women. When a woman raped she already faces the physical harassment, but when the picture and the details is shown to the all people through newspapers the woman harasses for the second time by other people. A newspaper provides all the minor details about the incident.
When I was in grade 12, I read a newspapers article. (Sorry that I forget the name of the news paper) The article was written about a raped school girl who committed suicide a few days ago. The girl committed suicide because of unnecessary publication of news paper. The girl was raped few days ago, and a reporter went there and took her and her families interview then published it with her picture. After that the girl could not go outside, because everyone look at her with a criticize eyes. She felt shy to go outside. She stopped to study and the most sadness that her boyfriend refused her to marry. Therefore she committed suicide.
It is important to let people know about the incident of rape, but sometimes it could be a question of life and death.
Bangladesh is a Muslim country, so we have some conservation. Our traditional dresses are shari and Pazaima-kameez for women. But now some movies represent women very nakedly which is very embarrassing for our culture. But they always represent men with very well dressed. My question is when men act in films with covering whole body, why should female act nakedly? Therefore, I would like to suggest that instead of destruct our tradition they should represent our traditional dress.
I will share a famous movie in Bangladesh. I will not tell the name of the movie. The story of this movie is like that. The heroin is a very childish, uneducated, ugly and a poor girl in a rural area of Bangladesh. Suppose the name of the heroin is Tuny (do not think in this movie her name was Tuni, but to make the story easy I will call her Tuni.) One day the landlord of the village was going to sink in a river. She helped him, so the landlord returned from his certain death. The landlord was satisfied with her. Therefore, he wished to give marry Tuni with his son. His son studied in a city. Suppose his name was Tom. Tom was an educated person as usual he did not want to marry an uneducated girl. He compelled to marry her. He did not love his wife, because he loved someone else. On the other hand, like other Bangali women Tuny tried heart and soul to get her husband’s love.
They came to city to live separately and continue Tom’s study. When anyone comes in their new house, Tom introduces his wife as a maidservant. One day they faced an accident. After the accident Tom lost his wife. He was very happy, so he did not try to find his wife. What about Tuni? Tuly (Tom’s girl friend) and her mom found Tuni. Tuni told her story to Tuly’s mom. Tuly’s mom was a social worker. She made Tuni modern, educated and smart. Then, Tuni became fair and beautiful. Tuni changed her name. Therefore, Tom left Tuly and fall in love with the new girl. He did not know that Tuni was the new girl. Tom wanted to marry her. Finally, he understood that the new girl was Tuni and Tuni absolved him.
The director focused the real life of a woman. However, I am upset because the heroin changed herself for her husband. She was that much starved for love so she changed herself. Why she did not change herself for her life? The movie reflects the weakness of women that they can do anything for their husband instead of showing the strength of an independent human being.
I am a student, so I try to read everyday’s news. I feel that news is really very important to gain knowledge. News papers are called as a store of knowledge. On 4th March when I was reading a Bangla news paper a question was moving in my head. The question was “How many female writers in this news paper?” Instead of reading news I started to search the reporters’ and writers’ name, because I knew that I could understand how many male and female writers and reporters by their name.
I have found 19 male writers and 5 female writers. Out of five writers one person wrote a poem, one person wrote about general knowledge, one person wrote about women column and other two wrote reports. I am very upset to see the ratio of male and female in a news paper. However, on 8th March International Women Day I saw a lot of women wrote many article about women. Which make me think that women usually like to write about themselves in news paper on any specific occasion like Women Day.
A few days ago I read an article about a female editor. Her name is Daisy Moudud and she is a sub editor of Dainik Purbokone. She started her job through journalism. She started her career in 1985. In that time she was the only one female journalist in Chittagong. Although her family supported to choose this career, she had to face many consequences to be succeeded. In the profession she had to prove herself that she also able to do the job as like a man. Now, she is a sub editor of the news paper Dainik Purbokone.
Now there are many female journalists in Chittagong. Although the current situation of Chittagong is better than before, the percentage of female journalists is very low comparing with the male journalists. The number of female journalists is very low because it is difficult for a woman to work as a journalist in the male dominated society of Bangladesh. Many guardians do not allow their daughter to choose the profession.
Although we know it is difficult to work as journalist, but to overcome our weaknesses we should enter in every job sector. As a human being we have to establish ourselves beside men in every sector of life.

I watched a movie in the begging of the movie hero left his hereon in village and went to a city to earn money. After coming in a city the hero became a police and he forgot about his hereon. On the other hand, the hereon was waiting for him, but her father forced her to marry another boy. Therefore, the hereon left her house and went to the city to find her boy friend. This city was totally unknown for her and city’s people are very different from her village. So, she had to face many consequences. Finally, some villain tried to rape her but another girl came and rescued her. The new girl background was, she was a daughter of an honest man and someone killed her father. She became a hotel dancer after her father death for her mother’s treatment, so she had to come home at late night. One day some people raped her so she had become a protester of the society.
The hereon also became protester with her. One day they both rescued another girl from being raped. This girl’s boy friend refused her to marry, so she joined with them. Then, the three girls fought together to rescue other deprived women from their dreadful conditions.
I like this movie but my point of view is that the three girls become aware after some harassments. What does the movie teach us? Do women have to be aware after some harassments…….
A common scene in a Bangle movie is hero and heroine has separated for 10-15 years. Hero have gone to a city for study, but the heroine still in the village waits for her hero. Hero comes and falls in love for the prettiness and softness of a rural woman (heroin). Hero marries her but when heroin goes to her in-laws house she has to faces many consequences. Although she is tortured by the family member in her in-laws house, she stays in her laws house because she is helpless. She tolerates all kinds of harassments. What do people learn from the scene?
Actor and actress of a Bangla movie represent the real life of Bangali men and women. Actress makes the images of soft, puffy, powerless heroin. And the word actor makes the images of strong, powerful dominating hero. In a movie, the common scene is that “a group of villain tries to rap or kidnap the heroin and she shouts help! Help! At that time the hero comes like a superman and rescues the heron.” It is the first sight between hero and heroin. Then the heroin tries to rescue the hero by her prettiness and love. The hero avoids her repeatedly. At last, the hero falls in love for prettiness and patience of heroin.
A movie should make deliberately. Its purpose could be education, entertainment and others. So, if people watch that kind of powerless female actor in the movie what do they learn from it? Instead of the following scene if the scene is like that “before coming the hero the heroin rescues herself by herself and so the hero wonders.” Instead of fall in love of heroin’s prettiness hero can fall in love of her dare.
